Inside the Room: Gear and Design

The camera setup

Three matched rigs, not three mismatched leftovers: Sony A7 IV full-frame bodies (33MP, S-Cinetone color science) paired with Sony Vario-Tessar T FE 24-70mm f/4 ZA OSS* lenses (Carl Zeiss optics). Because every camera runs the exact same glass and sensor, footage from all three angles matches natively — no color-grading gymnastics in post just to make a wide shot and a close-up look like they belong together. The main camera holds a wide 24mm frame; the two side cameras sit at the long end of the zoom (60-70mm) for host/guest close-ups.

Each body lives in a SmallRig 3667C cage and runs on continuous Neewer USB-C power — no batteries to swap mid-session, so a long recording day is a non-issue.

Sound

The audio chain runs through a RØDECaster Pro II mixer feeding dynamic microphones on boom arms. High-density acoustic panels line the walls, with dedicated bass traps in the corners to kill low-frequency rumble and standing waves — the goal is a recording that sounds clean before it ever touches a plugin.

Light and set design

An overhead SkyTrack lighting rail lets the lighting setup change against any of the room's walls. The design itself (an internal project once called MOKU-SHIN) blends a Japandi aesthetic with Marimekko textile patterns: warm earth tones, wooden wall lamellae (which double as sound diffusers), hand-finished acoustic panels carrying an organic Finnish Marimekko print, and Japanese wagasa umbrellas as a visual accent.

Isolation and reliability

The production room is built as a double-wall construction using GenieClip RST acoustic isolation clips, keeping city noise out entirely. For livestreaming, the studio runs dual independent internet connections (dual WAN) and records to two devices in parallel with synced timecode, so a single point of failure won't take a session down.
